Higham Lane Leisure Association & Ambleside Sports Club:

Our Community Promise

The Higham Lane Leisure Association is a registered charity dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and vibrant hub for the Nuneaton and Bedworth community. To ensure our Club House and grounds remain an enjoyable environment for all our members, guests, volunteers, and staff, we ask everyone to adhere to this Code of Conduct.

1. Core Values & General Conduct

  • Inclusivity and Respect: We provide recreation and leisure activities for all inhabitants without distinction of sex, colour, or political, religious, or other opinions. Discrimination or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
  • Zero Tolerance for Anti-Social Behaviour: We expect all members and guests to treat our volunteers, staff, and fellow community members with kindness and respect at all times.
  • Personal Responsibility: Each member and guest is responsible for their own actions. If you see something inappropriate or unsafe, please report it to a committee or staff member immediately.

2. Sports & Pitch Guidelines

  • Safety & Fair Play: Always prioritise safety during games and training. Respect the official rules of your sport and play fairly.
  • Respect During Competition: Maintain a positive attitude whether you win or lose. Show respect to opposing teams, referees, and organisers.
  • Teamwork: Encourage collaboration and foster a supportive environment for all players, regardless of their skill level.

3. Family & Safeguarding

  • Parental Supervision: Children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all times while on the club premises.
  • Parental Responsibility: Parents are expected to actively supervise their children to prevent anti-social behaviour and must intervene and resolve any issues if they occur.

4. The Club House Bar & Social Space

  • Bar Service Rules: Unaccompanied individuals under the age of 16 cannot be served at the bar under any circumstances, including for water.
  • Outside Food & Drink: Guests are not permitted to bring their own alcohol or soft drinks onto the premises; all drinks must be purchased from our licensed bar.
  • Responsible Drinking: We encourage members to enjoy the social space responsibly. Illegal drugs are strictly prohibited on the premises.
  • Event Curfews: To respect our local neighbours, all event music and bar service must cease by 23:30 pm, and all guests must leave the premises by midnight.

5. Respecting Our Facilities

  • Property Care: We take pride in the Club House; therefore, members and guests must not cause damage to the property.
  • Decorations: To prevent damage, we strictly prohibit the use of confetti (including confetti balloons), small foil table sprinkles, or pinning/sticking signs and decorations directly to the walls during events.
  • Cleanliness: Please keep the club, pitches, and bar area clean, and dispose of your rubbish properly.

6. Social Media & Public Conduct

  • Positive Ambassadors: As a representative of Ambleside Sports Club, your behaviour in the community reflects on us. We ask that you act as a positive ambassador for the club at all times.
  • Social Media Etiquette: Please respect the privacy of others when posting online and refrain from sharing content that could be disrespectful to the club, its volunteer committee, staff, members, or guests.

7. Violations of the Code

  • Violations of this code may result in disciplinary actions, including warnings, suspension from club activities, or permanent expulsion, depending on the severity of the offence.
  • We take all reports of misconduct seriously and will investigate matters promptly and professionally.
